Co Monaghan twins Hannah and Caoimhe Quinn have triumphed at this year’s Stripe Young Scientist exhibition.
The Castleblayney College students built on last year’s success by taking home Senior Group, Biological & Ecological Category and the Intellectual Property Owners of Ireland Special Award.
Hannah and Caoimhe’s investigation focused on the development of a cellulose based UV protective sunscreen and lenses, paired with a sustainable, UV awareness mobile app.
Their project combined science, innovation, sustainability and real world impact in a way that truly impressed the judges.
In a statement issued online, Castleblayney Collehe said: “A special word of thanks must go to Ms Keith, whose passion, expertise and encouragement played a vital role in supporting Hannah and Caoimhe throughout their journey.
