A Co Monaghan woman has been named Ireland's Volunteer of the Year.
The 2025 Volunteer Ireland Awards took place in Dublin recently to celebrate Ireland's outstanding volunteers.
Linda Moore has been involved with Cú Chulainn Blood Bikes for the last six years and wears many hats including driver, secretary and fundraiser.
Linda was not the only Co. Monaghan winner, as Gerry Atkinson was the winner of the Safety & Emergency Services category.
For almost four decades, Gerry has had an extraordinary impact on his community through his service with Monaghan Civil Defence, the Annyalla/Cremartin Community First Responders Group and Cremartin GAA.
At the Co. Monaghan Volunteer Awards in October, Gerry Atkinson won the lifetime achievement award and Linda Moore won the Volunteer of the Year award.
Sinéad Keenan of Monaghan Volunteer Centre said "we are incredibly proud of Linda and Gerry and want to congratulate them on their success at the national awards. We also want to recognise all the other amazing volunteers in our community. Not everyone is able to give as much as the award winners, but every single volunteer makes a difference. We invite anyone who wants to find out more about volunteering to contact Monaghan Volunteer Center [email protected] or 087 4173944."
