Coillte is encouraging people across Cavan and Monaghan to enjoy their local forest over the Christmas period and winter months.
Cavan's top Coillte Forests for recreation include Dun a Ri Forest Park, Killykeen Forest Park and Cavan Burren Park. Meanwhile some of Monaghan's top picks include Rossmore Forest Park and the Senator Billy Fox Memorial Park. A total of 81% of the Irish public believe Ireland needs to grow more trees to help combat climate change, according to a recent Red C Research survey commissioned by Coillte. Speaking about the survey, Paul Jordan, Regional Manager Coillte, said that he recognises the importance of nature and forests in supporting our overall wellbeing.
He added that both Cavan and Monaghan are home to some great Coillte recreation forests and he is reminding people to take some time where possible this festive season to get out and reconnect with nature.
