There are a number of hotspots in Co Monaghan that have significant levels of social deprivation and poverty.
That's according to Packie Kelly of the Teach na Daoine Community and Family Resource Centre in Mullaghmatt.
According to Packie, poverty is something that the service sees every day.
Over 25 families are accessing the Teach na Daoine foodbank every week.
The service is also putting out 250 food parcels per month just in the North Monaghan area alone.
Speaking on today's Joe Finnegan Show, Packie said noticeable trends have emerged over the last 12 months which are quite significant.
He said many are struggling with rent, food and energy bills:
Meanwhile, Kamilla Jackavich is running a pilot poverty project called 'Action For Family' along with Teach na Daoine.
The project highlights the indicators of poverty and pathways out of it.
Also speaking on today's Joe Finnegan Show, Kamilla said the pilot project will target five main towns in Co Monaghan.
Kamilla will also work with five local families to help them overcome their financial struggles.
She believes generational poverty in particular is something that needs to be tackled urgently:
