Monaghan County Council has indicated that the concerns of landowners along the Clones to Smithborough section of the new Greenway will be addressed.
The confirmation emerged during a recent meeting of the Ballybay/Clones Municipal District.
The meeting heard there are "multiple landowners" involved in the process and the local authority remains "confident" that resolutions will be reached in relation to all the concerns that are raised.
Cllr Pat Treanor then pointed out that everyone was aware of the process that was involved in securing land along the Greenway.
He added, however, that it was a "welcome development" to hear that local landowners will be facilitated.
Cllr Treanor also pointed out the need to promote the Greenway to landowners because of their ability to attract tourists to an area.
