Coillte are continuing to call on people across Cavan and Monaghan not to enter forests due to the destruction that has been left following Storm Eowyn.
Cllr TP O'Reilly sought an update on any progress from Coillte in clearing Deerpark Forest Virginia from fallen tress after the storm. Cavan County Council received a statement from the forestry body stating that it was not safe people to enter forests at this time as the clean up continues.
They said as they endeavour to clear areas impacted by storm damage as quickly as possible, safety is our absolute priority. Hazards arising from storm damage may not be visible.
Coillte is asking members of the public not to enter forests where there is clear storm damage or where there are clearance operations underway. Cllr O'Reilly hopes the local amenity will be opened soon for people in the area to enjoy once again.
