Simon McGinley, a convicted rapist, who was sentenced to 21 years in prison in 2009 for the brutal attack of a Monaghan pensioner in her own home is to walk free today.
He served 13 years of an overall 21 year sentence for the brutal rape of the 86-year-old woman when he was released in September of 2022.
McGinley served a further 23 months for breaching the conditions of the Sex Offender act.
According to the Irish Independent, they say Gardai classify him as ‘a very dangerous individual’’.
He was previously sentenced to 12 years in 1998 after pleading guilty to raping a 13-year-old girl in August of 1997 known as the ‘C Case.’
The Irish independent is reporting McGinley is due to walk out of the Midlands Prison a free man today.
A garda alert is in place for McGinley, who is expected to live at an address in Dundalk, Co Louth.
