The death has been announced of popular Scotshouse man John Connolly.
The Co Monaghan man had been a lifelong community man in the area and has been heavily involved in his local GAA club throughout his life.
John was a Fianna Fáil candidate in the most recent local elections last June.
He also was the voice of people in the area last year when Eir had erected a mast in the village of Scotshouse, a mere 12 feet away from a child’s bedroom.
John along with other residents protested against that decision which in turn saw Eir changing the location of the mast seeing ‘people power’ winning out.
In a post online tonight, his local GAA club, Currin GAA said their hearts are heavy following hearing the news of the sudden death of their past chairman, dedicated executive member, and lifelong supporter of Currin GAA.
The club said that John’s passion, commitment, and kindness left a lasting mark on our club and community.
As a mark of respect, Currin facilities will be closed until further notice. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
