Death of Cavan's former Ulster GAA president

Cavan County Board said Michael’s contributions to the GAA at all levels will be long remembered

Former Ulster GAA president and inter-county referee, Cavan native Michael Greenan has died.

Mr Greenan served as the 32nd President of the Ulster Council from 2004 to 2006.

Michael was a player with Drumalee and won club Junior and Intermediate championship medals during his days on the pitch.

In a statement on social media, Cavan County Board said his passing has come as a shock to his many friends in Cavan, Ulster and nationwide.

The board said he made an outstanding contribution to the GAA in Cavan and Ulster in particular over his lifetime as a player, administrator and referee.

Cavan County Board said Michael’s contributions to the GAA at all levels will be long remembered.

As a member of Cavan County Board, he held a number of roles, including Secretary from 1976-1981, and was also a selector with the senior football team in 1976, 1978 and 1983.
