There has been a decrease in assaults carried out in Co Monaghan over the last year. The figures were revealed at a recent sitting of Monaghan's Joint Policing Committee. A total of 18 incidents of assault causing harm was reported in the first three months of this year. This is compared to 20 for that same period the previous year. The figure for minor assaults has also decreased with a figure of 36 recorded in the first three months of this year compared to 48 the year previous.
