Don't forget to get your cats neutered - Cavan animal sanctuary

A local non-profit group is reminding of the importance of neutering cats and kittens.

The Kitten Cottage is a non-profit animal sanctuary based just outside Virginia, Co Cavan.

The group neutered over 200 cats this year, a trap, neuter and release of 97 cats, taken in 211 and rehomed 202.

Maire Egan of the group outlined that a cat can get pregnant at as young as four months, and have three litters a year.

She urged people to reach out if they come across stray cats or even have trouble getting their own pet neutered.

Maire said it can quickly become an out of control situation.
