A double payment of child benefit before Christmas is likely to form part of the budget.
Social Protection Minister Heather Humphreys says she's conscious of the great expenses families have in the winter time.
The minister also says she's open to the idea of quadrupling the child benefit for the first month of a baby's life, to help out new parents:
