A driver who failed a roadside breath test has been arrested after he was clocked travelling at 126 kilometres in a 100-kilometre zone on the N2.
The incident happened on Saturday afternoon when Monaghan Roads Policing Unit were carrying out speed checks.
Further enquiries established that the speeding motorist was an unaccompanied learner permit holder.

The driver then failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for drink driving.
The vehicle was also taken off the road.
