Members of the Monaghan Roads Policing Unit, accompanied by the RSA and Environmental Health Department of Monaghan County Council carried out a number of multi agency checkpoints this week. During the course of the checkpoints one driver tested positive for drugs in their system. They were arrested and blood samples were taken. One motorist also had their car detained for driving whilst unaccompanied. According to local Gardaí, for those who continue to drive under the influence of drink or drugs start to consider the safety of other road users.
