Drug driving is on the increase across Co Monaghan roads according to local Gardai.
Garda Samantha Brown who is attached to Monaghan Roads Policing unit says she is encountering drug driving at all times of the day and night.
Garda Brown says driving under the influence of illicit drugs not only puts the driver at risk but also passengers and others who share the road.
Even a small amount of certain drugs can seriously affect a driver's motor skills, balance, reaction time, and judgment on the roads.
The Carrickmacross based Garda says while cannabis and cocaine are the most prevalent, Opiates and Benzodiazepines are also being encountered.
Speaking to Northern Sound, she says lives are being put at risk once you get behind the wheel under the influence.
