Almost €58 million in revenue from motor tax was collected in the past two years in Cavan and Monaghan.
According to figures released by the Minister for Transport, €15.3 million was collected in Cavan in 2023 and and €15.6 million in 2024. While in Monaghan, €12.9 million was collected in motor tax receipts in 2023, with just over €13.3 million last year.
Nationally the Government collected €924 million in revenue from motor tax in 2024, while the figure stood at €14 million less in 2023 at €910 million. Approximately 85% of all motor tax payments have been made online,
