Exhibition underway in Virginia surrounding LGBT+ parenthood

The launch took place last night at Virginia library.

A exhibition that centres on the themes of family law and LGBT+ parenthood is currently on display in Virginia.

The exhibition features a compelling series of photographs accompanied by a companion book. The book entitled 'Family Law' was written by Sarah-Jane Travers with photographs by her brother-in-law Ciarán Dunbar.

The launch took place last night at Virginia library and will be on display over the next two weeks. The objective of this exhibition is to highlight the inequalities within Irish family law as they pertain to LGBT+ parents and their rights to parenthood.

Through visual storytelling, the exhibition aims to encourage dialogue and promote a deeper understanding of these issues.

Sarah Jane says as she travelled around the North East and photographed these families, the one thing that stood out for her was that love was very much to the fore.

She said these families that have been involved are making history and she says the project sends a clear message that there are still inequalities when it comes to LGBT+ parenting. Ciaran says he felt compelled to take part in this project in an effort to raise awareness around the levels of inequality that exists.
