Former Cavan cathaoirleach deemed 'unsuitable to hold corporate office'

Seán McKiernan was jailed in December last year for two years and nine months for stealing €172,000 from a housing and mental health charity.

A former cathaoirleach of Cavan County Council has been disqualified from acting as a director of any company for a five-year period.
Seán McKiernan was jailed in December last year for two years and nine months for stealing €172,000 from a housing and mental health charity.
It was also found that the former Fine Gael councillor had spent the money on male escorts and paid for their services, as well as for the purchase of drugs.

Documents obtained by the Sunday World revealed Mr McKiernan has been deemed 'unsuitable to hold corporate office of any kind.'
The disqualification order will remain in effect until December 2030.
