Sinn Féin TD Matt Carthy has tonight expressed his deep sadness at the passing of former Fianna Fáil Minister, Dr. Rory O’Hanlon, describing him as a pivotal figure in the political and community life of the Cavan-Monaghan constituency for many decades.
“I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Dr. Rory O’Hanlon. He was a pivotal figure of Cavan Monaghan politics for decades and will be fondly remembered throughout the constituency as well as in his home county of Armagh, and indeed across Ireland.
“Rory will be especially missed in his adopted home town of Carrickmacross where he was central to every major community development for such a long time.
“I extend my deepest sympathies to his beloved wife Teresa, to their children Fiona, Rory, Ardal, Neale, Shane, and Derbhla, to his grandchildren and wider family, and to his colleagues in Fianna Fáil. “Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”
