Minister Smyth said it will be up to the Government to respond in the best way they can to potential rising costs.

Fuel prices are expected rise once again across Ireland as a result of ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The local representative said the ongoing situation in the Middle East was discussed at today's meeting, and how best we can support Irish businesses amid growing uncertainty.

While Niamh Smyth said it is hoped that the conflict will not be long term, she said it looks doubtful going by media reports today.

Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Smyth said Government will have to seriously look at our citizens and how they travel to work if fuel inflation continues.

She says Government will have to react accordingly to ensure that citizens can live, work and get to work, and if there's necessary measures to be put in place for fuel or energy costs then that would have to be done.
