The Garda Commissioner has confirmed the divisions of Louth and
Cavan/Monaghan will be joined up in 2022.
However, because of preparatory work, an exact date on when the
transformation programme on the redrawn divisions will be completed is not
yet known.
Drew Harris made the comments at the launch of the Armed Response Unit in
Cavan earlier this month.
The head of the Gardai also confirmed that a tender evaluation of Bawnboy
Garda Station has taken place but a number of stations are undergoing
business evaluations presently and it inevitable that some may never reopen.
After a fire destroyed Emyvale Garda Station last October, Drew Harris has
also highlighted how anxious he is to have a Garda presence in the town
again.
