Gardai in Co Cavan are appealing for motorists to be "mindful" of the higher volume of road users which will be on local roads this summer.
With more young people off school, Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieboro Garda Station says there will be more children out playing or heading off to training or other activities on bicycles.
As a result she has asked motorists to keep this in mind when out and about travelling.
With an increased volume of agricultural machinery on roads, Garda Stephens is also asking that agricultural contractors ensure that licensed and experienced drivers are operating these vehicles on local roads.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Stephens says "we all need to do our bit to ensure a safe summer on our roads."
