As the summer months approach Gardaí across Cavan and Monaghan are urging locals to be mindful of house safety.
Coming into the summer houses will be more vacant due to holidays and family events and Gardai are encouraging people to always "lock up." According to Garda Lisa Stevens of Bailieboro Garda Station, if culprits want to gain entry they will try their best with no regard to the damage they cause. Garda Stevens also advised homeowners to ensure that no objects within easy
reach that can aid their efforts. If your property is protected by CCTV, carry our regular maintenance checks to ensure that it is working.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Stevens added that closed gates on a property can also act as "deterrent" to criminals.
