Gardaí in Co Cavan are offering advice to all firearm holders with regard to renewing gun licenses.
All licensed holders will receive the renewals three months ahead of expiry.
People are being advised to double check all details as soon as they receive it and make any necessary updates to personal details, GP details and gun club memberships.
Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieboro Garda Station has further details.
"We'd also ask you to double check those you have asked to be a referee for you. We require one family member and one other person whom we must be able to contact. You will appreciate that there is great responsibility in being a licensed firearms holder, and it is up to you to ensure that all particulars on the form are true and accurate. You can drop your form with a recent passport size photograph to your local Garda station, or if you wish, you can drop it into either Cavan or Bailieboro Garda station, which are 24 hours. Should you have any queries regarding firearms, you can call either Cavan or Bailieboro and request to speak with the firearms officer. Please do not delay in getting this job done"
