Yesterday, Gardaí in Bailieborough Co Cavan received two reports of counterfeit €50 notes in circulation in Ballyjamesduff area.
As a result of the reported counterfeit currency, local Gardaí has appealed to local businesses, particularly on the run up to Christmas.
Businesses are encouraged to be "vigilant" as criminals will attempt to pass dud money when shops are busy.

Extra vigilance is also advised in relation to fraudsters who may make a very small purchase and tender a €50 note to pay for it.
