Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch has been arrested in Lanzarote as part of an international investigation into suspected money-laundering. It followed a joint operation by Gardaí and Spanish police yesterday.
Stephanie Rohan reports: "Yesterday morning 10 searches were carried out in Spain as part of an investigation targeting the Hutch organised crime group. It's suspected the gang is involved in money laundering across a number of jurisdictions.
"A home in Clontarf in Dublin, belonging to Gerry 'The Monk' Hutch, was also raided after a request from Spanish authorities. The Irish Times reports the 61 year-old was arrested in Lanzarote as part of the operation, and was one of a number of people detained."
