Cllr Pauric Clerkin has extended his warmest wishes to Heather Humphreys as she embarks on her campaign to become the next President of Ireland.
Former minister Heather Humphreys confirmed to the Joe Finnegan Show yesterday morning that she is putting her name forward in a bid to become the next president of Ireland.
The former Cavan-Monaghan TD confirmed to the programme on Northern Sound that after days of speculation she will now seek a nomination from her party to run in the upcoming election.
In response to her announcement, Cllr Pauric Clerkin has wished Heather Humphreys the very best of luck as she begins her campaign to become the next President of Ireland. In a statement issued to Northern Sound, Cllr Clerkin said: "Her dedication to the people of our country is second to none, and I know she will be a strong and unifying voice for Ireland.
"As a former Government Minister from the border region, she represents a unique cross-section of Irish society. Her background can help bridge divides and foster inclusiveness—qualities essential in a head of state whose primary role is to unify and represent all people in Ireland."
"Heather has played a truly pivotal role in my personal and political journey," Clerkin said. "Her leadership, integrity, and tireless commitment to her community and country have been nothing short of inspiring. She believed in me before I ever believed in myself, and it was her encouragement that gave me the confidence to stand for election in June last year (2024)."
"I’ve seen first-hand Heather’s deep dedication to the people she serves, and I know she would bring the same compassion, wisdom, and sense of duty to Áras an Uachtaráin. I wish her every success as she begins this new and historic chapter. Our country would be fortunate to have her as President."
