The Hive of Knowledge sculpture will be relocated to the Peace Campus on Glaslough Street, with the structure expected to be in place within approximately six weeks.
The news was confirmed to Northern Sound by Fine Gael's Pauric Clerkin.
Cllr Clerkin said this development represents a major step forward following his sustained campaign to have the Hive of Knowledge removed from storage and returned to public view in Monaghan Town.
Cllr Clerkin described the the Hive of Knowledge as an important and much-loved piece of public art.
He said it is vital that it is no longer left in storage but instead made available for everyone in our community to see and enjoy once again.
The expected six-week timeframe for installation represents welcome and tangible progress.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Clerkin said he will continue to advocate strongly to ensure this iconic structure is reinstated as soon as possible.
Cllr Clerkin explained: "I am delighted to see real progress being made on relocating the Hive of Knowledge to the Peace Campus. This follows my request to the Municipal District Executive to prioritise taking the sculpture out of storage and ensuring it is once again accessible to the public.
"At a Municipal District meeting in 2025, I proposed that the Hive of Knowledge be located at the entrance to the Peace Campus. I felt strongly that this would be an ideal location given its proximity to the library and the significant footfall in the area. I am pleased that this proposal was supported by my fellow councillors and passed by vote.
"I want to thank the Municipal District Executive for their work on this matter and I will continue to advocate strongly to ensure this iconic structure is reinstated as soon as possible. I also want to thank my colleagues Cllr Alan Johnston, Cllr Raymond Aughey and Cllr Seamus Treanor for supporting my campaign."
