As the dark nights begin, Tommy McGuire from Castleblayney has warned that the winter months can be "particularly difficult" for older people who often feel "more vulnerable."
As a result, Castleblayney Community Enterprise is holding an awareness event for older people on home security and safety this week.
The event will be held on Wednesday 1st October in the Enterprise Centre at 10.30am.
The event which will include a number of key speakers will provide an opportunity for those attending to learn more about the supports that exist out there for older people.
Tommy says it will also help reduce opportunities for crime to take place and promote self-reliance and personal safety.
