A local auctioneer says that first time home buyers in Cavan are finding the process frustrating.
New figures indicate that the average price of a second-hand three-bed semi in County Cavan rose to €225,000 in 2025.
That's up 16.9pc from €192,500 at the end of 2024, according to a national survey by Real Estate Alliance.
In Ballyconnell prices increased by 14.3pc in 2025 to an average of €200,000, while prices in Cavan town rose to €250,000, up 19pc during this period.
Speaking to Northern Sound James Spring of REA Donohoe Spring explained that 2025 was defined by limited supply and demand.
He outlined how first time buyers are feeling at the moment.
"First-time buyers are finding things very competitive. They're competing with older cash buyers who are looking to move into towns. There is incentive there to help them, like the first-time buyers grant and derelict property grants, but they are frustrated, they just simply want to be able to buy a house and they find the process and the competition is frustrating too."
