Electing Heather Humphreys as the next president could bring us one step closer to a united Ireland.
That's according to political activist Tom McNulty, who is based in east Co. Cavan. Whereas, the former hardline republican activist was speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show this morning about Sinn Féin's strategy for the upcoming presidential election.
No candidate has yet been appointed to run for the Áras on behalf of the party. Tom McNulty says he is advocating for a united, 32-county Ireland, but would not endorse Fine Gael's political track record.

However, he believes supporting Heather Humphreys as a person beyond party politics could promote positive relationships on both sides of the border:
