'I had to give up my job'- Cavan parent on effect of SLT waiting lists

Long waiting lists for speech and language therapy are having a detrimental impact on children according to a Cavan parent.

Almost 300 children are being forced to languish on waiting lists for more than two years.

A shortage of speech and language therapists are being blamed for the long waits, which average almost a year.

A peaceful protest is being organised in Cavan Town on August 12th at 10am outside the HSE building to highlight the plight of parents.

Serena Dawson, who's a parent of three children with additional needs, says parents aren't professionals and early intervention with children is absolutely vital.
