The mother or a young man who was murdered near Oram in Co Monaghan says she’s not just appealing for information but begging for answers.
Today marks the 18th anniversary of the murder of 21-year-old Paul Quinn in Co Monaghan. The young Cullyhanna man was murdered after being lured to a shed by a number of men.
On the anniversary of his murder, local Gardai say the investigation into Paul’s killing is ongoing. During the course of the investigation, 23 people have been arrested which includes 14 people who were arrested by Gardai and 9 who were arrested by the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Breege Quinn, Paul’s mother said on this morning's Joe Finnegan show that it’s no easier today than it was that evening that he died.

She said there is people out there in the community that has information that has not come forward. Breege says at this stage her family are begging for information that could give them the justice they have sought for the past 18 years.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan Show today, she said Breege Quinn, Paul’s mother says he has missed out on so much over the years. "It is 18 years. It's 18 years that Paul has missed a lot in his life. His friends have all got married, and it's just horrendous. It's horrendous the death that he got, that nobody could say, stop. He was only 21 and they broke every bone in his body, they left nothing to fix. We couldn't even touch the lad and we'll never, ever forget it.

Meanwhile, Breege Quinn has called on Presidential Candidate Catherine Connolly to encourage Sinn Fein to give her any information they may have on Paul’s murder.
"I see that Sinn Féin are supporting her big time and I would ask her too to ask Sinn Féin, or whoever she can, to help us to get justice for Paul. I am begging her this morning to go to Sinn Féin and get us justice. Please. If anybody knows anything, it is Sinn Féin and for a young lad to be murdered in South Armagh and as we have all said, it was the IRA that murdered him, Sinn Féin, have bound to had meetings and want to know who had done it."
💔 18 years today since my beautiful son, Paul, was murdered.
Not a day goes by that I don’t miss his smile, his kindness, his courage.Eighteen years on — still no justice, no convictions, no accountability.
The silence is unbearable.All I want is truth.#JusticeForPaulQuinn pic.twitter.com/5mDMxXL7SJ

In March of 2020, a thematic review of this investigation was completed by the Garda Serious Crime Review team.
Gardaí say they continue to work with their colleagues in the Police Service of Northern Ireland in efforts to solve this crime. Superintendent Ronan Carey said: "We firmly believe that the answers to this murder or the evidence that we require to progress this investigation lies within the community.
”He said relationships change or the nature of them, and that people may be in a position now to provide answers to us or come forward to us and give us information that they may not have been previously in a position to do so.
”We want to provide the answers, and we want to provide justice to Paul, to his mother, Breege, and his father, Stephen.”

Gardai says regular contact with the Quinn family continues and they are updated regularly on any developments in the case.
