Gardaí in Cavan and Monaghan advise local people to be aware of bogus phonecalls. The warning comes at this time because in recent days officers have been dealing with an increase in reports from residents about scam calls.
Gardaí ask people not to engage with callers who ask you to "verify" personal details or any banking information for "overdue payments". If in doubt about the authenticity of a caller, the advice from Gardaí is to hang up and phone the company in question directly.
In an online post, Cavan/Monaghan Gardaí, remind people "if a deal is too good to be true, it's too good to be true".
