A number of key issues impacting areas of the region were put to Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan during his visit to Co Cavan over recent days.
A dedicated women's refuge for Cavan-Monaghan, policing, youth diversion groups and a new garda station in Bailieboro were all top of the agenda according to Minister Niamh Smyth.
Minister Smyth acknowledged that Gardai in Bailieboro have had to work in "very sub standards conditions" for a long number of years.
Both Fianna Fail representatives also got a preview of the work which is near completion.
During his visit, Minister O'Callaghan said he was extremely impressed as to how the project was progressing.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Minister Smyth says "when the doors open it will be our responsibility to make sure that we have the man power in the new garda station."
