The Demographic Officer for Cavan GAA says that some of the main challenges faced by rural clubs is being unable to get land to build.
Paddy Sheanon was speaking in reaction to a set of recommendations aimed at targeting the dramatic demographic changes that have taken place in Ireland and which are having a significant impact on GAA clubs nationwide.
Changing population trends, rural decline and issues such a mass migration of people to East Leinster are leading to rural GAA clubs struggling to field a team while urban clubs are they are trying to cope with huge numbers.
Mr Sheanon, outlined that some clubs find it difficult to build and develop as farmers are not willing to give up their land.
Speaking on the Joe Finnegan show this morning, he explained his thoughts.
