Gardaí and the RSA are appealing for drivers to be careful on our roads this long weekend.
The latest road safety appeal has been launched, with checkpoints being mounted all around the country until Wednesday. Sarah O Connor from the Road Safety authority says we need to follow the rules of the road.
Alan McGovern, the Garda Chief Superintendent for the Louth, Cavan, Monaghan division says a split second can devastate families and communities and he wants people to enjoy the weekend but he wants everyone to remain safe when taking to the roads. Mr McGovern is appealing to motorists to take that bit of extra time when taking to the road network this bank holiday weekend.
