Cathaoirleach of the Monaghan Municipal District, Cllr Sean Conlon has highlighted the importance of the local authorities' trip to Nashville for St Patrick's Day festivities. According to Cllr Conlon, like anything else with promoting and marketing, unless you make a "robust effort there will be no results." Having lived abroad for 26 years, the local representative said he knows exactly what the 17th of March brings to different areas, particularly in the United States, adding that "international outreach is essential."
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Conlon gave credit to the Chief Executive of Monaghan County Council Robert Burns for selecting Nashville. He highlighted how the likes of Castleblayney and the wider Monaghan area has "global recognition" when it comes to Irish country and western music, making the decision to head to Nashville a no brainer;
