Local autism centre receives special award for its 'determination' to provide services

The Cavan Autism Education and Training Centre received the special award at the recent Pride of Place gala ceremony.

The Cavan Autism Education and Training Centre has received a special award for its "determination" to provide services.

The local charity received the special award in the Community Wellbeing Initiative category at the recent Pride of Place gala ceremony.

The centre provides a four-year, person-centred autism specific education and training service for young adults.

Cavan and Monaghan Arts and Health Forum, and the One Million Stars to End Violence from Mental Health Ireland - Cavan, were also nominated but ultimately missed out on the night.

President Michael D. Higgins says the Pride of Place awards are an important initiative that reminds us that creating societies that are ethical and inclusive is a task for all of our citizens.
