Local calls for homeowners to take extra caution

A local member of An Garda Síochana is encouraging homeowners to take extra precautions at this time of the year.

As winter times moves in, Sergeant Joe Glackin Crime Prevention Officer for Cavan and Monaghan is calling on people to take extra steps.

The local prevention officer says by locking all doors and windows and leaving a light on can work as a deterrent.

Sergeant Glackin says it everyone's responsibility to help with crime prevention.

He said other important steps are don't keep cash in your home, use an alarm and keep keys stored away from windows and doors. The local member of An Garda Síochana says by taking these precautions away, this will reduce the risk of your home being broken into.
