A local councillor has hit out at the further delay to the planned opening of the new Garda Station in Bailieboro.
It was originally confirmed in recent months that the state of the art station would be completed and operational in April.
The office of public works have now confirmed to Northern Sound that the completion date will now be May.
Cllr Shane P O'Reilly says by the time An Garda Síochána take over the building and then get it operational it will be long number of months after that until its open and serving the community. He believes it's imperative that Garda management nationally just get on with the delivery of the project.
The independent councillor says the present station has been let fall to rack and ruin after it was muted in 2007 that a new Garda station would happen.
He described the current conditions as substandard and said An Garda Síochána management needs to get a move on once and for all and deliver the new station for the area.
