A local councillor has called on Telecom Éireann to address the issue of fallen and overhanging poles along roads.
Cllr Winston Bennet made the calls when he brought a motion to the monthly meeting of Ballyjamesduff Municipal District on the issue.
The Fine Gael councillor says there is a major safety issue in relation to overhanging poles and they pose a risk to motorists.
He says he has received a number of calls from lorry drivers and bus drivers about these poles.
Cllr Bennet says it's not a new issue but seems to only have got worse especially after Storm Eowyn last year.
The Co Cavan councillor wants to see the situation better addressed to prevent any accidents on our roads caused by these overhanging poles.
