Local councillor highlights significant NCT test delays

llr Brady says these long waits are causing frustration and annoyance to motorists.

A local councillor has highlighted significant delays when it comes to booking a NCT test.

Cllr Carmel Brady says she has received a number of phone calls from people who have went online to book their car in for the NCT only to realise that they can only get an appointment for 4 to 5 months.

Driving without a valid NCT disc can result in fines and penalty points. It can also significantly affect your insurance, primarily by complicating claims and potentially allowing the insurance company to decline paying damage repairs to your own vehicle.

Cllr Brady said NCT centres are open 7 days a week and up to 10pm so why is there such long waiting lists.

The local councillor called on Cavan County Council to write to the Department of Transport and the RSA to ask why these delays are happening. Cllr Brady says these long waits are causing frustration and annoyance to motorists who are trying to follow the rules and regulations
