A local councillor has raised concerns surrounding parking fees at hospitals.
Cllr Paul Gibbons, on behalf of Sinn Fein, asked Monaghan County Council to call on the Minister of Health to immediately initiate the removal of parking charges on hospitals.
The party noted that it feels that the charges are an unfair tax on sick people, their families and frontline workers.
Sinn Fein called for the Minister to commit to providing hospitals with additional funding, at least matching that received from parking fees, so there is no diminution of services provided when pay parking is abolished.
The motion was passed unanimously.
