A local councillor is calling for Cavan County Council to support the government's plans to regulate e-scooters.
Cllr Niamh Brady acknowledged that e-scooters can offer a convenient and environmentally friendly mode of transport.
However, she added that she has received a number of calls from local people outlining serious safety concerns with the use of e-scooters, particularly when they are used on footpaths.
Cllr Brady highlighted the concerns around the speed at which these scooters can travel in shared spaces.
Speaking to Northern Sound, the Fine Gael councillor said that Cavan County Council has a responsibility to support the government's efforts to regulate these scooters.
