Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but it's not wonderful for everyone.
That's according to Cllr Brendan Fay who is appealing for people to look out for those who are lonely this Christmas.
Cllr Fay says loneliness and depression is prevalent during this time of year, particularly for those living in rural areas.
Although we live in such a fast paced world, Cllr Fay said it's equally important to reach out and offer the hand of friendship to those who need it most this festive season.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Cllr Fay said older people of the community are still shaken due to the impact that Storm Eowyn had.
