SOSAD Ireland is calling on the publics support to help keep its doors open. SOSAD which operates across North East including Cavan and Monaghan made a decision earlier this month to cease its messaging services due to financial issues. With calls for government to "take action before it's too late" Christine Wynne of SOSAD Cavan confirmed that the charity has put forward a "complex application" for section 39 funding and are "hopeful" that this will come to fruition.
In the meantime, Christine says SOSAD is focused on "keeping the lights on" in the hopes of avoiding permanent closure. As a result, a fundraiser has been organised by board member Christy Bannon in a bid to raise vital funds while the charity awaits government's approval of future funding.
