Education is very important when it comes to crime prevention.
That's according to Sergeant Joe Glackin who is the Crime Prevention Officer for Cavan and Monaghan.
The local member of An Garda Síochana carries out a lot of presentations in schools across the region.

Sergeant Glackin spoke recently at an event that was organised by Castleblayney Community Enterprise for older people to have more awareness surrounding home security.
He says highlighting the benefits of alarms and CCTV to homeowners is crucial.
The local prevention officer says by locking all doors and windows and leaving a light on can work as a deterrent.
