As the clocks prepare to go back this month and the evenings become longer and darker, local Garda Lisa Stevens is reminding people to be "winter ready" especially when it comes to safety.
Garda Stevens said it's important to check outdoor lighting such as sensor lights or CCTV to make sure they are fully operational.
If heading out for a walk in the evenings ensure you are wearing high-visibility clothing.
Vehicles must also be "road ready" for the winter period.
Speaking to Northern Sound, Garda Lisa Stevens of Bailieboro Garda Station outlined how to do so:
"Make sure the inside of your window screen is free from smears which may cause glare from oncoming lights. Make sure your window wash is topped up to ensure that your window screen is clean from the outside and check all lights and indicators to ensure that they are working properly. All of these tips will insist you in getting your vehicle winter ready."
