An appeal has been issued to ensure that your pets are secure at all times and especially at night.
The appeal comes from local Gardai in relation to roaming dogs worrying sheep.
Sheep attacks and sheep worrying has fatal consequences and severe financial consequences for farmers. Data shows that over 730 animals were attacked by dogs in 2023, including over 450 sheep and more than 230 cattle. Garda Lisa Stephens of Bailieboro Garda Station said the onus is on the dog owner.
